History of Wijdan

Wijdan is an independent think tank and organization founded in 2015 by highly experienced development practitioners with diverse experience, expertise and international exposure. Wijdan operates in Pakistan and elsewhere in the world on two types of engagements:
- Consulting assignments compatible to its experiences and competences
- Development projects implementation and fiduciary management without profit.
Wijdan has completed over 30 projects within its 10 years of career. We have successfully organized large scale studies with complex data sets collected with qualitative and quantitative methodologies following highest standards using latest tools.

Our Geographical Footprint

We have a multilingual, multi-ethnic, experienced team located in Islamabad, Peshawar and other parts of Pakistan.

The main presence of Wijdan is in Pakistan. Wijdan with its location in Islamabad and Peshawar has outreach all over Pakistan. Wijdan’s offices in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have a deep institutional experience. However, Wijdan has also extended services for several assignments in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. We have a bankable network of consultants and partner organizations all over country and thus we have full grip on contextual knowledge and ability to ensure quick delivery of services. Wijdan has also extended its expert services through secondment of experts in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Netherlands, Nepal and Central Asia for international assignments.

Wijdan’s Gender, Social Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (GSEDI) statement

Wijdan adopts a combined GSEDI approach. We believe that social inequality is the root cause of gender discrimination and marginalisation of social groups. A greater degree of burden is borne by women, minorities and other marginalised groups. An understanding of gender relations requires a wider understanding of the social context and power relations, and the way different cultural beliefs and practices impact women and men according to their class, caste, ethnicity, religion, sex, age and other relevant social groupings to entrench inequalities.
